Successful transmission of your family business

On May 9th, 2019, Deminor organized a visit of the Maison Dandoy atelier in partnership with Kerdos Patrimoine. It was followed by a conference-debate about the transmission of a family business.

Bernard and Alexandre Helson, namely CEO and CSO (Chief Spectaculoos Officer), opened the doors of their family biscuit factory, active since 1829, and showed us the artisanal production process of their biscuits.

During the conference-debate, the speakers highlighted some key points for a successful transmission of a family business.

Pierre-Alexis Léonard, Managing Partner, made reference to a study conducted by Deminor and KULeuven in May 2018. Based on this study, family SMEs are far less well equipped than non-family businesses when it comes to corporate governance.

He identified potential reasons behind this difference and showed, based on practical examples, how an efficient governance structure is likely to promote the company’s longevity.
